The goal of this project was to create a wetland on Boulder Open Space property that mitigated the environmental impacts of the large CDOT project on Hwy 36 into Boulder. WSRI worked with Rocky Mountain Excavating to turn the 25 acre cattle pasture into a functional wetland area. 885 square yards of 12” depth wetland sod and associated topsoil were transplanted to the wetland site from the Hwy 36 construction project, as well as five threatened Ute Ladies Tresses Orchids. Other tasks on the project include 25 acres of native upland and wetland seeding, soil conditioning, mulching, and planting more than 18,000 shrubs, wetland plugs, and willow cuttings. WSRI is now in the 2 year maintenance phase of the project.
