WSR Looks to 2023 to Continue New Mexico Fire Recovery

In the aftermath of the worst fire season in New Mexico history, WSR and partners have begun the mitigation process via aerial mulch and seeding of the worst burn scars. The fires burned over 300,000 acres, spanning over 45 miles north to south.

WSR began erosion control and aerial mulching in September of 2022, and plan to complete another 16,000 acres in the spring, more than twice the amount completed this year. Post-wildfire Mitigation and Recovery makes a massive impact on the ecological recovery timeline of the burned environments, giving nature the upper hand with revegetation.
