In late summer and fall of 2020, Colorado experienced its two largest wildfires in state history with the Cameron Peak (208,913 acres) and East Troublesome fires (192,457 acres) scorching through the drought stricken and beetle kill forests in north central Colorado. These fires not only took life and property, but also burned through important watersheds posing great risk to vital water supplies.
Western States Reclamation has been called upon once again to utilize our experience and expertise in post-wildfire stabilization and apply wood shred mulch to the most heavily burned and highest risk areas. In partnership with our longtime aviation partner, Mountain West Helicopters, Northern Water, and the City of Greeley, our team will be treating 2,500 acres on the East Troublesome burn scar and up to 12,000 acres on the Cameron Peak burn scar.
